Obituary for Ronald Lee Marsh
Ronald Lee Marsh, of Kaleva, passed away December 27, 2014 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was 56 years old.
Ron was born April 2, 1958 to Lyle and Hazel (Koopman) Marsh. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and served for eight years.
He was employed at Packaging Corporation in Filer City as an industrial electrician until his retirement in 2013.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved having the latest equipment that went along with it.
He leaves behind his two sons, Jason and Alex, five brothers and sisters; Marcia (Daniel) Martinez, Donna (Walter) Hull, Carl (Gloria) Marsh, Betty (Leonard) Menerey and Larry (Janice) Marsh. He is also survived by one step sister, Angela (Skip) Harvey and two step brothers, Richard (Fe) Smith, Randy (Fran) Smith, his stepfather Carl Smith and a special friend Kris.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Merritt Butterfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Schrock officiating.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Burial will take place in the spring, next to his parents, at the Falmouth Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.2,5

Arthur completed a World War I Draft Registration Card on 5 June 1917. It gave his address as Manton, Wexford County, Michigan, USA. He was a Farmer, and single.4
Arthur married Jeannette KOOPMAN, daughter of Henry John KOOPMAN and Eleanore Frances URIDGE, on 26 June 1921 in Osceola County, Michigan, USA.2,5

     Benjamin Henry BOWMASTER II was born on 3 March 1923 in Holland, Ottawa County, Michigan, USA.2,1 He was the son of Arthur Rance BOWMASTER and Jeannette KOOPMAN.2
Benjamin served in World War II. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the US Army.3
Benjamin married Phyllis J. VAN LENTE.4
In 1995, he was mentioned in his mother's obituary.5
His wife, Phyllis, died on 4 April 1997 in Holland, Ottawa County, at the age of 71.4

BOWMASTER - Benjamin “Ben” H. Bowmaster II, aged 75, of Holland, died Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at The Inn at Freedom Village. He attended Hope College, Western Michigan University and graduated from the University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He had been employed at Holland Furnace for ten years and also H.E. Morse Co. He was an owner of Spartan Chemical, Organic Chemical and Larko Chemical of Grand Rapids. He owned a Christmas tree farm, Evergreen Enterprises located in Falmouth for 40 years and owned and operated the Holland Pen Company for several years. He was past president of the Holland Country Club, a member of Third Reformed Church, former member of Central Park Re formed Church; Hope Association of Senior Professionals; Michigan Christmas Tree Growers Association; American Legion; and U of M Alumni Association. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in 1997. Surviving are his children, Marcia and Bob Pinder of Fremont, Ben Bowmaster III and Paula Wisniewski of Cedar; Lynn Bowmaster and Michael Docter of Hadley, MA; four grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Knudsen; brother, Rosco and Mary Lou De Vries all of Holland; in-laws, Dale and Ann Van Lente and William La Barge all of Holland; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will be 11 AM Saturday at Third Reformed Church with Revs. Dr. Steven Stam and William Unzicker officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.3

Ruth married Harold Frank KNUDSEN in USA. Harold was previously married. He, and his former wife, had two sons Phillip and Evan KNUDSEN.1,3
Between 1962 and 2008, Ruth lived at 523 Spring Lane Drive, Holland, Ottawa County, Michigan, USA.4
Between 1993 and 2009, Ruth and Laurie lived at 1096 W 32nd Street, Holland, Ottawa County, Michigan, USA.5,4

Ruth Knudsen, age 86, passed away on December 27, 2013. Born November 25, 1927, she was a life-long resident of Holland. She graduated from Holland High School and worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell Telephone company for 30 years, retiring in 1977. She had a great love for all animals and a passion for gardening. Friends and family could always count on finding her in her garden accompanied by her dog, Holly. Her parents were Benjamin Bowmaster and Jenette (Koopman) Bowmaster DeVries; brother, Ben and Phyllis Bowmaster; and stepbrother, Roscoe DeVries. She is survived by her son, Jeff and Laurie Knudsen; and grandsons, Phillip and Evan Knudsen. Her nieces and nephew are Marcia and Bob Pinder, Benny Bowmaster, Lynn and Michael Doctor; and of course, her beloved dog, Holly. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Donations in her honor can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society, Hospice of Holland and the DeGraff nature center. A celebration of her life will be announced to friends and family at a future date.2


Research Note: In her obituary, her father was Benjamin Bowmaster. However in the historical records it is Arthur. Phil Dorland clarified this, a few year's back, with his granddaughter Marcia (Bowmaster) Pinder.8
