William married Jane FLEET in 1859.1,3
In the census of 3 April 1881 at Wapsbourne, Chailey, Sussex, William was listed as the Head of Household; a Farmer with 380 Acres, employing 8 Men and 3 Boys. He was living with his wife, and 9 children and Mary MARTIN a servant from Fletching, Sussex.

You can find Wapsbourne marked on the 1:50,000 OS map, "Brighton and the Downs", Sheet 198. It is 1/3 of a mile west of Sheffield Park Railway Station, which is about 2 miles west of Fletching. Presumably the land was owned by Lord Sheffield.2

     Jane FLEET was born in 1832 in Fletching, Sussex. It is presumed from her age that Jane Fleet was born to Benjamin and Jemima Fleet, Fletching village blacksmiths. They lived at "Shortbridge", near Pittdown, about 2 miles south-east of Fletching.2,3

headline: Death Claimed Mrs. C.A. Uridge

Shortly before 6 o'clock last evening, death claimed Mrs. C.A. Uridge who had arrived in Bakersfield from her home in Leadville, Colorado only a few days before. Mrs. Uridge was the sister of Mrs. C. F. Spillman and the daughter of Mrs. M. Morse of 1669 D Street and came to join them in this city in the hope of being benefited in health, having been a sufferer from kidney disease and inflammatory rheumatism. She was met in Oakland by Mr. Spillman and Saturday morning they arrived here. Tuesday Mrs. Uridge was removed to a private hospital. Her condition was very serious and the hard trip from the Eastern State badly weakened her. Although heroic means were pursued to prolong her life, death occurred last evening. She was a young woman, being only 26 years of age and her family has the sympathy of a large circle of local friends who are grieved to hear of her untimely end. Mrs. W.W. Thompson who is a cousin of Mrs. Uridge and her daughter will arrive from Los Angeles to attend the funeral which will be held Sunday from Morton and Connelly's Chapel.1 She was buried on 29 January 1912 at Haven of Rest, Block 493, Lot 15, Union Cemetery, Bakersfield, Kern County, California, USA.3,2

     William MARTIN was born in 1863 in Buxted, Sussex.2 He was the son of William MARTIN and Jane FLEET.3,2,1 He served an apprenticeship as a miller.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 at Wapsbourne, Chailey, Sussex, he was listed as a Miller, the son of William MARTIN.2
William married Eliza ATTRIDGE in 1890.4
William and James Isidore URIDGE were in partnership in 1890 in the Ashley Avenue Windmill, Cheriton, Kent.4
William bought out his brother-in-law James URIDGE, and purchased a watermill in Hythe, near Folkestone, Kent.4
He was mentioned in his sister Mary Jane URIDGE's will made on 8 August 1929.3
