The marriage was witnessed by Martha Rees Griffies, and Charles Moss. She was a widow aged 36, residing at Dame Street, St. Davids, Carmarthen. Her father was listed as John Evans, a Labourer.1,3,4,5 In the census of 3 April 1881 at 10 Mill Street, St. Peters, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, she was listed as "Hannah", aged 45 born in St. Peters Carmarthen, the wife of James RICHARDS; a General Labourer, living with his wife Hannah, and step-daughter Hannah EVANS, and son David J.6 In the census of 5 April 1891 at 5 Moss Lane, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, she was listed as aged 59 born in Carmarthen, the wife of James RICHARDS; a General Labourer, living with his wife Harriet, and son "Dd Job."7

Research Note: There is some confusion over Harriet / Hannah's name. In the 1881 Census she was referred to as Hannah, in the 1891 she was listed as Harriet. However in her marriage to James it shows Harriet MOSS.8

David married Mary WILLIAMS on 10 April 1899 in The Register Office, Pontypridd, Glamorganshire.3,6 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 83 Trebanog Road, Cymmer, Glamorganshire, David was listed as aged 25 born in Carmarthen, the Head of Household; a Hewer, living with his wife Mary and brother-in-law Thomas WILLIAMS.7
David died on 20 September 1952 in 3 Palmers Row, Cymmer, Glamorganshire, at the age of 77.4,8

     Thomas APPLEBY was born in 1840 in Yeldersley, Derbyshire.1,2,3 He was the son of William APPLEBY and Elizabeth CHATTERTON.1 He was baptised on 30 August 1840 at All Saints Church, Bradley, Derbyshire.4
In the census of 7 June 1841 at Yeldersley, Derbyshire, he was listed as aged 1, assumed to be the son of William APPLEBY.1
In the census of 30 March 1851 at Yeldersley Lane, Yeldersley, Derbyshire, he was listed as aged 10 born in Yeldersley, the son of William APPLEBY.5
In the census of 7 April 1861 at Gravely Bank Farm, Yeaveley, Derbyshire, he was listed as a Carter, aged 18 born in Derbyshire, a servant of George COOPER, a Farmer of 1116 acres, employing two boys. Also listed was another servant, Eliza HOUGH, his future wife.6
Thomas married Eliza HOUGH on 20 September 1862 at the Holy Trinity Church, Yeaveley, Derbyshire. He was a Bachelor aged 21, a Labourer residing in Yeaveley. His father was listed as William Appleby, a Labourer. The marriage was witnessed by William HOUGH, the bride's brother, and Elizabeth WEBSTER.3,7,8
In the census of 2 April 1871 at Hare Hill, Boylestone, Derbyshire, Thomas was listed as aged 31 born in Yeldersley, the Head of Household; an Agricultural Labourer, living with his wife Eliza, and their children John, William, Elizabeth, Ellen, and Annie.2
Thomas died on 26 February 1875 in Boylestone, Derbyshire. He died of Phthisis Pulmonalis (Tuberculosis), which he had for a year.8,9,3
His wife, Eliza, died in September 1918 in Belper, Derbyshire, at the age of 74.3
