His wife, Sarah, died in January 1759 in West Wickham, Kent, at the age of 67.⁷ John was buried on 23 July 1760 at West Wickham, Kent, at the age of 68. His daughter Amy died shortly afterwards, and was buried on 7 August 1760 also at at West Wickham, Kent, They could have possibly been buried together.⁸

There was a settlement dated 5 July 1756 for Amy Whiffen, where she was assigned to the parish of Hayes, Kent (which is 1.2 miles from West Wickham). It lists the children that Amy had with Thomas Whiffen as: Sarah age 7, Thomas age 6, Amy age 5, John age 3 and Richard age 5 months. The same settlement said that Thomas was a Wheelwright having served his apprenticeship with Mr. Newman in the parish of Cudham, Kent.^10,11

Research Note: Initially Thomas WHIFFEN was thought to have married Amy URIDGE Ann. However Cal WHIFFEN has now advised this in fact should have been her sister Amy URIDGE. All events originally assigned to Amy URIDGE, have been reassigned to Amy URIDGE.¹⁶

Between 1839 and 1852 Edgar and his brother Isaac owned the mill at at Cage Green, Kent.^5,6,7,8 Between 1845 and 1851 Edgar operated the mill at Southborough, Kent, on behalf of the owner Milton & Co.^5,7

This mill stood on Southborough Common and must have disappeared over a century ago. Its site to-day is enclosed by a high hedge, used as a garden and called Mill Platt.⁹

Edgar made a will dated 20 April 1853 at Tonbridge, Kent. In his will he refers to cottages in Cage Green, Tonbridge, and Romford in the parish of Pembury, Kent.¹⁰
Edgar died on 20 April 1853 at the age of 63. His death was registered in the Tonbridge registration district.^11,3
