H. John Koopman, age 81 of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, passed away at his home, Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. from the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd with Pastor John Shelpman officiating. Interment will be in Falmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home.
John Koopman was born September 25, 1925 in Falmouth, MI, to John H. and Wilhelmina Koopman. He married Ruth Harnick on August 27, 1950 at her parent’s home near Oil City, MI. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW in Shepherd and the American Legion Post of Mt. Pleasant. He owned and operated Koopman Refrigeration Sales and Repair in Mt. Pleasant since 1949.
He is survived by his wife Ruth; five daughters, Bridget (James) Dillman of Mt. Pleasant, Dora (George) Fox of Beal City, Karen (Larry) Bradenberry of Mt. Pleasant, Colleen (Howard) Moeggenborg of Alma and Margaret Beth (Larry Forshee) Koopman of Shepherd; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters and two brothers. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila Larsen and a grandchild, Chad Dillman.
Memorials may be given to Shepherd VFW or the American Legion of Mt. Pleasant or the Leukemia Foundation.²

Hazel Mae Marsh of Falmouth passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. She was 86 years old.
She was born on October 23, 1927 in Riverside Township to John Henry and Wilamenia (Molhoek) Koopman.
She was also known as Sis or Aunt Sis by her brothers, sisters and their families. Hazel was a former, Home EC teacher at the Marion High School and avid gardener working with many varieties of flowers and a passionate quilter.
She is survived by her husband; Carl Smith of Falmouth, children; Marcia (Daniel) Martinez, Donna (Walt) Hull, Carl (Gloria) Marsh, Betty (Leonard) Menerey, Ronald Marsh, Larry (Janice) Marsh, step children; Richard (Fe) and Randy (Fran) Smith, Angela (Skip) Harvey, brothers; Robert Koopman and William Koopman, sisters; Helen Dickerson, Margaret (Russell) Molitor, Carol (Ron) Vyse, Jeanette (Joe) Poggi, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Lyle Marsh, brother, Henry John Koopman and her parents.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, February 23, at the Merritt Butterfield United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Jeff Schrock officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, at the Young Funeral Home at 3pm to 6 pm.
Burial will be in the Falmouth Cemetery in the spring. Memorial tributes may be directed to the Merritt Methodist Church or Merritt Golden Agers Senior Center.²

William "Bill " Dickerson, of Cadillac, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Mercy Hospital Cadillac. He was 86.
He was born January 10, 1928, in Caldwell Township, Missaukee County, to Percy and Alice (Pickard) Dickerson. He married Helen Jean Koopman on September 20, 1958, at the Koopman family home in Falmouth. He had worked at Towntalk, Joynt Automotive, Northwood Heat and Treat, Delfield, Kysor, and Northern Auto Parts. Bill graduated from Lake City High School in 1947. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 and served in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 300 in Lake City. He attended the Clam River Chapel in Falmouth. He loved working in his garden, growing flowers and tinkering in the garage.
He leaves behind his wife, Helen Jean Dickerson of Cadillac; his children, Paul Dickerson of Holland, Roy (Jeanette Strom) Dickerson of Cadillac, and Cheryl (Martin) Lopez of Harrison. He also has a grandson, Brian Strom, and special friend, Rachel Pulcifer of Traverse City. Also surviving is a sister, Dorothy (Charles) Bartholomew of Lake City, and in-laws, Bob Koopman of Florida, Bill Koopman of McBain, Hazel (Carl) Smith of Falmouth, Margaret (Russell) Molitor of Lake City, Carol (Ronald) Vyse of Saginaw, Jean (Joe) Poggi of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Alice Dickerson; brothers, Delmar, Jack and Malon; sister, Lurlie Dickerson, in-laws, John and Millie Koopman, Bud Marsh, John and Ruth Koopman, Janice Koopman, and Joan Koopman
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home at 211 N. Pine St., McBain 231-825-8191. Dick Herweyer will officiate, with burial in the spring in Falmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Superintendent's Wife Dies In Caro
Mrs. Emiline McFaul Koopman, wife of Philip U. Koopman, superintendent of Caro schools, died early Thursday morning in Caro Community hospital. A son, David Warren Koopman, born March 14, survives with her husband and her mother, Mrs. Victoria McFaul, of Gratiot County.
Funeral services were held in Caro Methodist Episcopal Church at 10 a. m. Saturday, Rev. H. W. Kuhlman officiating, with burial in Alma. Mrs. Koopman had taught before and after her marriage, in Alma, Saginaw, Reed City and Ann Arbor.⁵
